What The Pillar is

The Pillar is a browser game and an advertising marketplace: One Floor Each, a tower people build together one floor each, and a 3D open-world city. A window is a licensed ad pane on its 80-floor tower, not real property and not a security.

By using The Pillar you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

This page is a plain-language summary for players and advertisers. It is not legal advice, and a window on The Pillar is not real estate and not an investment.

Accounts

You can sign in with your X (Twitter) account, whose handle and public profile become your identity on the tower. You can also lease a window with only an email address: the window belongs to the email you pay with on Stripe, and you sign in with a one-time link we send to it. You are responsible for activity under your account.

You must be old enough to form a contract in your jurisdiction to hold a window.

Lighting a window

Lighting a window grants you a licence to display your brand on that pane for the stated period. It is an advertising licence, not ownership of anything, and not a security. See the Advertising License page.

The price shown at checkout is the price you pay for the stated period. A monthly licence renews at that price until you cancel. We may change prices, but a change applies only to future renewals and only after we tell you in advance. During preview, some windows may be free.

Checks before an ad goes up

Every new ad is checked before payment, automatically and sometimes by a person. Some kinds of ads are never allowed and are refused before you pay. Some are held after payment, dark, until a person approves them, usually within a day. If a held ad isn't approved, or isn't reviewed within 72 hours, you get a full refund and the subscription is cancelled. The lists are on the Acceptable Use page.

AI agents and other software may start a lease for you through our public API; the person who pays on Stripe is the buyer and agrees to these terms.

Billing

A paid window is a monthly advertising licence charged through Stripe. It renews each month at the price shown until you cancel by releasing the window or emailing us.

See the Refunds and billing page for how charges, renewals, cancellation, and reversals work.

Purchases by your AI agent

You can connect an AI agent (for example Claude or ChatGPT) to your account through thepillar.io/mcp/account. By allowing it, you authorize us to charge your saved card for the windows that agent leases, up to the monthly limit you set. Each of those leases renews monthly like any other.

You get a receipt by email for every purchase your agent makes. Within 24 hours you can undo it from the receipt or at /desk: the lease is cancelled and refunded in full. After that, ending it stops renewals, with no refund for the current month.

You are responsible for the ads your agent places, under the Acceptable Use rules. You can change the limit or disconnect an agent at any time at /desk.

Paying with USDC (x402)

You can also lease a window by paying in USDC on the Base network through x402, an open standard for payments over HTTP, with no account. One payment buys one month (30 days). It doesn't renew by itself: paying again for the same window, website and owner adds a month after the current end.

With an email address, the window belongs to that email and you can end the lease early at /desk. Without one, the paying wallet owns the window, nothing is emailed, and the lease ends on its own.

Payments in USDC are final: there is no 24-hour undo, and ending a lease early gives no refund for the time left. Only ads that pass the automatic check can be paid this way; ads that need a person's review go through Stripe. If we can't place an ad after the payment went through, we send the USDC back to the address it came from.

One Floor Each: floors, Bricks and the shop

One Floor Each (thepillar.io) is a game inside The Pillar: you build one floor of a shared tower, a room you decorate and sign. A floor is a place in a game, not property, real estate or an investment. Each account gets one floor free. Accounts are for people 13 and older.

Bricks are the game's money for small things. 100 Bricks cost $1, and bigger bundles include extra Bricks. You buy them with a card through Stripe or with USDC on the Base network through x402. Every price in Bricks also shows its dollar price at $1 for 100 Bricks.

Bricks have no cash value. They can't be cashed out, sold, sent to another account or exchanged for money, and we never pay them out. They buy things for your floors, packs of things, boosts, refills, more floors, penthouses and special floor numbers. Bricks stay in your account while One Floor Each runs; if we ever close it, we will tell you at least 30 days before.

Buying Bricks or Pillar Plus is for people 18 and older. Before your first purchase you confirm your age and ask for what you buy to arrive right away.

A boost shows your floor to more visitors for 24 hours, and the tower marks a boosted floor Promoted. Featured spots are limited to 6 at a time. Numbered things are made in the count shown, and the count left is the real one. A thing you buy is yours to place on all your floors; a floor that had a priced thing on it before the shop opened keeps it.

We may change what things cost and add or retire things for sale. A change never takes away something you already bought.

Pillar Plus

Pillar Plus costs $4.99 a month, charged through Stripe. It renews every month at that price until you cancel. You can cancel any time in one tap from the Plus panel in the shop; Plus then stays until the end of the month you paid for and doesn't renew.

Plus gives the extras listed in the shop when you join, including one thing each month that you keep after Plus ends. We may change the extras for future months after telling members first.

The Crown, duels and the season

The Crown is a weekly auction in Bricks for a week of a gold facade on one of your floors and your name on the crane. Bids start at 2,000 Bricks, and each bid must be at least 5% and at least 100 Bricks more than the one before. The Bricks of the leading bid are held, and they come back to the bidder the moment someone bids more. A bid can be raised but not taken back. A round closes Sunday at 8 PM New York time; a bid in its last 5 minutes moves the close to 5 minutes after that bid. The highest bid at the close wins, and the winner's held Bricks are spent. If nobody bids, the week's theme winner wears the Crown. We never bid ourselves and never show a bid nobody made.

In a duel two floors are cheered for 24 hours. A duel starts when a builder accepts a challenge, or as the Duel of the day between floors whose builders allow it (you can turn that off). Cheers cost 100, 500 or 2,000 Bricks, and each account has one free cheer a day. The floor with more points at the end wins; equal points is a draw. The builder of each floor receives 20% of the paid cheers on it as Bricks, whatever the result. Cheering never earns the person cheering anything, whoever wins.

A season runs for a calendar month, New York time. Points come from things you do in the tower; every 100 points is a level, up to 20. Rewards on the free track are for everyone. The pass track needs that season's pass, bought once for 699 Bricks or $6.99 by card; it never renews. Buying it late opens every level you already reached. What you collect stays yours after the season. Things from a season's pass are never sold in the shop. You can skip a level for 150 Bricks.

Group blocks

A group block holds 20 floors in a row at the top of the tower for your group, for $99 once, $19 a month, or 9,900 Bricks. Members build in it free through your invite link, one floor each. The group's name and sign are checked like every sign.

A monthly block renews every month until you cancel from the block panel. When a block ends, its band comes down, floors already built stay with their builders, and the numbers nobody built on become house floors.

Brand floors

A brand floor is advertising inside the tower: a floor we build in your colors with your brand's name in neon, a link and a Sponsored label, by the month through Stripe, from $49 to $299 a month by plan. It is an advertising licence, not property. The tower holds at most one brand floor for every 10 floors.

The same content rules and check as the tower's windows apply before payment. Some kinds of business are reviewed by a person after payment; a brand we don't approve is refunded in full and nothing is built. The plan renews monthly until you cancel with the manage link we email you; when it ends, the floor becomes a house floor.

Acceptable use

You may not impersonate others, upload illegal marks or content, or abuse the chat. See the Acceptable Use page. We may remove a mark or dim a window that breaks these rules. We re-check live windows' links every day and may pause a window while we look into a problem; a paused window keeps its lease.

The Pillar is provided as-is. We may change or discontinue features at any time.
